A series of four workshops devoted to the wonderful medium of watercolours.  With plenty of demonstrations and hands-on experimentation, each session will be based on a different approach, subject matter or way of working - all with the aim of increasing your painting vocabulary and helping you work in a looser style.
Workshops take place on the following Thursdays from 10am to 3pm.

19 April 2018 :  Drawing from the Inside OutUsing continuous line drawing, and working on just a limited section of your final painting, we will explore how to keep paintings fresh and lively, no matter how complicated or simple the subject matter may be, through drawing just enough to keep your paintings exciting and  on track, while leaving space for the paints to do their thing as only watercolour paints can!

17 May 2018 : Inked Up
What a wonderful medium watercolour can be when combined with inks. Splats and splodges can be welcomed and positively encouraged, and there is nothing more exciting than seeing how watercolour and inks react when they hit each other ... always exciting, sometimes chaotic ... but a delight when you get to grips with what they both can do.

14 June 2018 : Painting Fast and Free
This day will be full of energy ... working on your feet, holding your paper so the paint runs and spreads across the page, building a selection of images that capture your subject matter in shorter and shorter time scales.  You will create a range of quick watercolour sketches, that can then be worked up into a more considered painting as the day progresses ... or keep working fast and free if you dare!

12 July 2018 : Layers of Interest

One of the joys of watercolour is its transparency ... we will look at ways of capitalising on this quality by building areas through multiple layers.  Often the simplest of works hide a degree of complexity that can only be achieved through working in layers, but this doesn't always have to mean working from light to dark!
