EXPLORING ABSTRACTION
Exploring Abstraction has been scheduled to coincide with a major new exhibition at Turner Contemporary, Margate this Spring, Beyond Form: Lines of Abstraction, 1950 - 1970 : connecting the work of over 50 women from across the globe through a shared language of radical abstraction. I can't wait!!
Exploring Abstraction is a hands-on, studio-based two-day course, and will show you how to unlock the potential of abstract art. Whether you are a painter, sculptor, photographer or printmaker, the principles of working in an abstract way are the same. There will also be the opportunity to meet up and visit the exhibition in Margate prior to the course.
Back in the studio you will be shown how to utilise drawing, sculptural and painterly approaches, and there will be opportunities to experiment in a range of media such as drawing with wire, working with found objects, radical mark-making as well as more conventional drawing and painting materials. If you have always wanted to embrace an element of abstraction in your work, but didn't know how, this could be the answer.
